Production Blog: Testing Out Software
Today I received some of the shots required for the music video. I've decided that I don't want to be on camera for this project either, so my group members are handling filming while I will edit. I'm more familiar with being behind the camera or on the editing software, so this is my preferred role. The other shots are currently pending. However, this gave me time to test the editing software. It also gave me time to see where a specific shot should go in our song, according to our storyboard. Due to the type of story my group is trying to portray and the editing I need to do, I will probably need to use two editing softwares. One so I can create the split screen and the second to put the clips together with the music. I did this same thing during the commercial project, so I'm prepared. Being consistent with my platform use has been useful lately. This allows me to not have to learn an entirely different program and I'm able to complete my tasks. After the first project, I feel more confident about my editing skills. With this experience, I'm sure to make a video that will push the boundaries of what I can do.
While I was testing out the software, I noticed that I would need to do some tweaking on the time, and that I would also need to incorporate a required camera movement in a different shot. This is because I didn't think they would enjoy re-filming the specific shot. I quickly notified my group members and after some discussion, they decided to put the camera movement elsewhere. I'm thankful to have cooperative groupmates. I'm also thankful that they respond quickly, since I can't deal with waiting for a response when it comes to things like this. Nothing went wrong with testing the editing, so tomorrow I can start on testing file transferring and ensuring proper exporting. Overall, I'm glad was able to be productive today and that I have great group mates.
