Filming Blog: Making Good Progress

Image
Today Kayla and I began filming for our pen commercial. Fortunately, our commercial is simple in terms of props and only required a pen, paper, and some sort of desk. Unfortunately, we did run into some problems regarding film location and were forced to work in the confines of the classroom, which was a little crowded. I'm hoping with some editing we can edit the background and keep the focus on Kayla, who was the actor. Her job was to be the main subject of the video, while I would film.  Her phone definitely came in handy for this project, due to its editing and filming capabilities. We were having issues getting the first wide shot of her walking into the classroom done, so we decided to move on and not waste our time on one shot. The first shot filmed was her sitting down at the desk and physically releasing stress. This shot went smoothly, along with the others.   We did need to do lots of re-takes for a couple of shots. The first trouble shot was the pan over to the other s

Slide 1: During this scene, a wide shot is of the actor walking towards a desk with paper on it will be shown. This is to establish a general idea of the  environment, what  the actor is about to do , and overall sets the tone for the video .     Slide 2: A medium shot  of  the  actor sitting down at the desk and physically preparing for  herself  for the  writing task. Physically preparing includes movements like stretching her shoulders, twisting her neck, and cracking/flexing her fingers ; anything  physical  that will free up her  mind .     Slide 3: The shot will be a split  screen,  the cut will be diagonal. One shot will be of the actor's confused expression and the other will be the pen not working properly  or writing smoothly . This pen's performance will contrast the performance of the  InkJoy   PaperMate  pen.     Slide 4: This shot will be a medium  close up  of the actor's angry facial expression as she stares at the pen in frustration. This pen simply isn&#

My partner and I are doing a pen commercial, specifically for Joy Ink. The commercials always have at least one shot of the pen and are usually somewhat  fantastical  and humorous.    -People are usually in a professional  setting ( school or  work( an office most of the time.) ). In these settings, writing can be extremely important.    -These commercials are  lighthearted , entertaining,  eye-catching,  and create a feeling of happiness surrounding these pens.    -Costumes range from casual to business attire. Physical appearance varies heavily.    -Use of non-diegetic sound, like  voiceovers ( usually explaining something special about the pen or just emphasizing positive features)    -Soundtrack is light and fun to go with the mood.    -A focus on pathos and logos by describing the various features of the pen   Conventions-    -Focus on the writing and features pen contains   -Commercials are light-hearted  with a touch of humor in some , no serious or dark topics   -What exactly i
