Editing Blog: The Final Touches and The Importance of Organization
Editing today felt difficult for some reason. I was to finalize the timing and get the final transitions in. This may not seem like much, but the stress and insecurities about this really got to me. I kept wanting to focus on my other schoolwork due to the anxiety, but I pulled through.
The continous stream of new shots also made things difficult. The timing of those shots varied greatly. Because of their variation, I had to keep compensating for the lack or overload of time. Needless to say, it became very frustrating. The process required that I jump between three apps on my computer. These were my editing app, my messaging app, and my files. I first had to go to my editing app and place the files in the right folder. Then from there I place the new item in the folder into the project assests for my editing app, OpenShot. I know this may not sound like much, but the back and forth of it became very old, very quickly.
I am grateful I kept myself organized though. Honestly, organization brought me through this entire filmmaking process, but seemed to be the most important thing throughout this entire class. Organization is an extremely important life skill, so I'm glad I was able to put it to its most effective use for this class.
Turning back to the actual film, I basically had to edit throughout the entire school day, in short bursts. These short burst were needed, since the app I used also enjoyed crashing on me. I'll have to look into that for next year, I don't want that happening while I'm trying to edit my short film. Thank God I was able to work through the pressure and the glitching. I think I've managed to learn a lesson or two from this whole experience, though. Overall, I'm ready for to turn in my film as soon as possible and I'm glad I learned something.
