Editing Blog:Compiling Shots and Just One More Scene...

Today I had to compile all the shots we had into one folder, put them all into a timeline, and figure out what shots we needed to film and how. We just have one more scene to film and we'll be done with filming. Honestly, this whole entire film process felt rushed. I kept trying to meet up and film so we could get started with editing, but scheduling seemed to keep getting in our way. Everything seems to be coming together just fine, but I don't want to go through something like this ever again. 

While going through the shots gathered, I realized that one of our members had filmed in the wrong aspect ratio. I was going to try to fix it through editing, but realized it would be easier to ask if he could refilm it instead. He said yes, which is great. Meanwhile, I'm trying my best to keep these shots as organized as possible. I'm downloading them into a specific folder, naming them accordingly. I'm also making sure we have all of the necessary conventions. We were missing a few, but I'll just incoporate that into tomorrow's filming. 

Luckily, I explored OpenShot(the editing app I'm using), yesterday, and watched a tutorial. OpenShot has a whole feature dedicated to titles, so that's great. I'm glad I took some initiave there. The first step was just downloading the shots and naming them. While, looking at the shots, it seemed like there wouldn't be much chopping up to do. This is another positive that I can take into account, considering how stressed I am. Then came placing the shots into the timeline. This wasn't hard, just tedious. However, the shots are now organized and placed sensibly. All I have to do is add the titles and transitions, add the next shots we filmed, and repeat. The editing process doesn't take too long, luckily.

 However, that does not mean that I'm over the wasted time. It feels like all the effort I put into scheduling didn't amount to anything and we just rushed anyways. Overall, I'm ready for us to film quickly and efficiently tomorrow and the only thing I'll be focusing on tomorrow is this media studies class. The film is due the 15th, however, I like to get things done ahead of time, just in case of technological issue.

Today I finally got the chance to sit down and edit the clips that I have received together. I'm relying on my groupmates to film at the moment, so I'm just playing a bit of a waiting game. However, I have received some of the files I needed. This allowed me to save some time by putting the files into my editing program. However, there was something I missed regarding our song choice. I forgot to find the radio version, so I decided to email myself the file. I would have downloaded the clean version directly onto my computer, but I was having file issues. After emailing myself the files I needed to download all of the videos sent to me. Then I placed them in the media of the editing platform and then onto the video track. An Introduction: A New Year, A New Group

This year my group is very different. See, last year I worked with Kayla and Hervis, but they decided to not take A-Level Media, which is okay. I've decided to work with Naliah (last initial) this year. I met her last year while tutoring for Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus and she was in the library needing help for Calculus. I think the fact that she was even in the library requesting help is a testament to her dedication to school. She seemed really sweet and had a lot of cool interests. Math clearly wasn't her favorite subject, but she loved anime and is now a promoter of the school's diversity club. I'm really glad I got to know her, and I hope we work well together this year. She was also in my AS-Level class, but we never really got to know each other until later into last year and this year. Production Blog: Only 2 Props, But a Thousand Emails

 Today another member of my group and I discussed props. She wanted to use fake blood, so we went through Amazon to try to find something practical. We ended up selecting a 16 fl oz bottle that costed a little under 10 dollars. In my opinion, it's still a bit too much, but maybe we'll end up using more than we thought. It did look realistic in the photo, but I'm hoping it looks that way in real life. We also talked about a fake gun. I remember seeing some fairly cheap ones on Amazon, but she mentioned having a BB gun that looked real enough. That was definitely fortunate, since I'm hoping money won't be added onto the issues during the project. While money and props are out of way, I needed to start emailing artists for music permission.
