Filming Blog: We Finally Got to Use the Park

We finally got to film in the park today, which I was very happy about. Today was a shortened day after school, so I was slightly afraid that the people playing tennis would be there. Luckily, they were gone by the time we arrived. We all decided that we should eat lunch first and then film, so there was a bit of a waiting period. While I usually hate those kinds of time segments, this one was transitional in a good way. I got to get myself relaxed and away from the "school mode" I was in. We needed to use the same park as the one that was used. I'm glad it is as close to the school as it is, because it was quite hot. If school ended at the time it usually did, it may have been cooler because the sun would be lower in the sky, but it was near noon. After the thankfully short walk to the park, we needed to set up the GoPro on to the tripod so that could film with it. After some fidgeting with it and watching two unhelpful Youtube tutorials, we decided to just film without the tripod. We seemed to be on the right path, it looked like it would require more tools than what we had on hand.

We managed to film the last scene, which had one of the busiest members in our group, so I decided it would be best to film it first. We moved around the park trying to find the best shot and we ended up by some bleachers on a tennis court. I expected the shot to be static and began filming like that. However one of the group members suggested that it be a pan of the character walking in a dazed state, it created a stronger shot. Unexpected, but I'm grateful for it. It was interesting filming and trying to get our members to act appropriately. One of them kept laughing due to the awkwardness she felt, but it wasn't too much of an issue. It honestly boosted my mood, distracting me from the hot sun and the stress of approaching finals.

As I'm typing this blog, I have editing to think about and the transferring of files. I'm hoping the GoPro shots will transfer easily. Overall, I'm happy we finally filmed a scene.
