Chico’s Revenge

EXT. CONVIENCE STORE – DAY 

This is outside a convenience store where teens EVAN, NOAH, and SAM are standing and talking, after their school day.  

SAM 

Are we gonna talk about how Carla was all over you today?  

EVAN 

Don’t even bring that up, she probably lowkey hates me.  

NOAH 

No, you just won’t admit you’re a rizz God, quit avoiding it.  

SAM grabs a bag of chips from his bag and opens it, loudly 

chewing. NOAH takes some from his bag, SAM glares and NOAH continues and eats the handful one by one.  

SAM 

Anyways, I heard a rumor about the woods near our neighborhood. Apparently they’re haunted by some spirits or something?  

EVAN 

Ghosts aren’t even real. You don’t actually believe that rumor do you? 

NOAH  

Shut up!  

NOAH throws a chip at EVAN. EVAN gives NOAH an annoyed look. 

NOAH  

Honestly, it sounds like a cool urban legend. 

SAM  

We should go and have a stakeout for the night. It’d be fun and we’d get bragging rights.  

EVAN  

First of all, how are we gonna explain all three of us being gone to our parents? Second of all, I don’t even trust you guys with my phone, I’m not staying with you in a forest.  

NOAH 

I’m down. 

EVAN  

I’m not.  

NOAH 

That’s two against one and we’re in a democracy, so... 

EVAN gives NOAH and SAM a disappointed look, waiting for a different response from either.  

CUT TO: 

EXT. WOODS – AFTERNOON 

NOAH, EVAN, and SAM stand in front of the woods off the side of an isolated road looking at the trees. EVAN is wearing a grey backpack with a flashlight in the side pocket over one shoulder and scowling, looking unamused. SAM is holding a bag of chips. 

EVAN 

I’m only here because you two would probably eat poisonous berries and die. 

SAM 

And we appreciate that. 

SAM starts walking into the forest with NOAH and EVAN following shortly after. 

CUT TO: 

EXT. INNER WOODS – DUSK 

The group leisurely walks through the woods, observing their surroundings. EVAN begins to complain. 

EVAN 

I really don’t wanna be here and I want you guys to know that. 

SAM 

Bruh.  We just got here and you already wanna quit!  

NOAH 

Yeah, think of the bragging righ- 

A goose comes out of the bushes and honks aggressively at the group. The goose snaps at NOAH’s ankle. NOAH grabs EVAN’s arm and EVAN pushes him away. The goose, startled, goes away.  

NOAH  

You didn’t have to push me like that. 

EVAN  

Sorry, kneejerk reaction. 

SAM  

See, I told you! That goose is a warning from the spiritual realm. 

EVAN 

Stop talking. 

NOAH  

That goose bit at me for no reason! I’m gonna get my revenge on that little piece of crap! 

NOAH starts running after the goose.  

EVAN follows after NOAH, SAM doesn’t want to at first, but follows.  

SAM 

Hey, wait for me! 

SAM and EVAN run after NOAH, calling his name. A high-pitched scream sounds through the woods right before they stumble upon his bite-ridden body.  

EVAN 

Holy- 

SAM 

Wait. We don’t even know what killed him. We’re gonna get arrested if we stay here! 

EVAN 

We’re gonna get arrested if we just leave him there! Call 911! 

SAM 

Fine! 

SAM pulls out his phone from his pocket. 

SAM 

It’s dead...Wait! 

Sam roots around the backpack and pulls out are charger. 

EVAN 

Where the hell are you gonna charge a phone out here?! 

SAM  

Okay, but I kind of thought ahead!  

EVAN glares at SAM.  

CUT TO: 

EXT. INNER WOODS - NIGHT 

EVAN and SAM continue walking through the woods, looking worried and paranoid. EVAN is holding a lit flashlight in front of him. SAM begins fidgeting with a knife that was brought in the backpack. 

EVAN

Stop playing with the knife.  

SAM 

What? We’re gonna die out here anyway. This wasn’t a good idea. 

EVAN

Now you realize that?! 

SAM 

Sorry, I thought the bragging rights would be worth it- 

SAM gets yanked away by something out of sight. EVAN shines the flashlight in the direction he was pulled. The woods are completely dark. 

EVAN 

Sam? Sam, this isn’t funny. 

EVAN turns around to find SAM gone. He stands frozen in place. SAM’s bloody body is thrown back out of the darkness and a chihuahua steps on SAM’s back. 

EVAN 

They’re definitely messing with me. 

The chihuahua begins to growl. EVAN looks around for SAM or NOAH to jump out.  

EVAN 

Guys, come on. I’m already scared, your pranks done. Please guys...Noah...Sam? 

The chihuahua steps forward. 

EVAN 

Nope. I’m out. 

EVAN turns back and starts sprinting out of the woods. The chihuahua follows, its eyes glowing red. He rummages through the backpack for something useful and pulls out a gaming controller. EVAN turns and throws the controller at the dog. 

EVAN 

Sam was actually helpful this time. 

EVAN continues running towards the exit. EVAN trips continuously along the trail. The chihuahua slowly catches up to him. EVAN eventually breaches the woods and the chihuahua stops dead in its tracks. It stares at EVAN, eyes glowing. EVAN glances back at the woods, sees the chihuahua standing there, tail wagging, and continues running down the road.  

A final shot of the chihuahua wagging its tail is shown.

Production Blog-Editing and Getting Files Together

Today I finally got the chance to sit down and edit the clips that I have received together. I'm relying on my groupmates to film at the moment, so I'm just playing a bit of a waiting game. However, I have received some of the files I needed. This allowed me to save some time by putting the files into my editing program. However, there was something I missed regarding our song choice. I forgot to find the radio version, so I decided to email myself the file. I would have downloaded the clean version directly onto my computer, but I was having file issues. After emailing myself the files I needed to download all of the videos sent to me. Then I placed them in the media of the editing platform and then onto the video track. This gave me an opportunity to see if we were within our given time frame. When I put the clips together I realized that we were over about 10 seconds or so. An Introduction: A New Year, A New Group

This year my group is very different. See, last year I worked with Kayla and Hervis, but they decided to not take A-Level Media, which is okay. I've decided to work with Naliah (last initial) this year. I met her last year while tutoring for Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus and she was in the library needing help for Calculus. I think the fact that she was even in the library requesting help is a testament to her dedication to school. She seemed really sweet and had a lot of cool interests. Math clearly wasn't her favorite subject, but she loved anime and is now a promoter of the school's diversity club. I'm really glad I got to know her, and I hope we work well together this year. She was also in my AS-Level class, but we never really got to know each other until later into last year and this year. She appears to be a hard-worker and very excited for this class, so I'm happy to be working with her.  Last year, I believe she worked on her project alone, as I often saw her...

Production Blog: Only 2 Props, But a Thousand Emails

 Today another member of my group and I discussed props. She wanted to use fake blood, so we went through Amazon to try to find something practical. We ended up selecting a 16 fl oz bottle that costed a little under 10 dollars. In my opinion, it's still a bit too much, but maybe we'll end up using more than we thought. It did look realistic in the photo, but I'm hoping it looks that way in real life. We also talked about a fake gun. I remember seeing some fairly cheap ones on Amazon, but she mentioned having a BB gun that looked real enough. That was definitely fortunate, since I'm hoping money won't be added onto the issues during the project. While money and props are out of way, I needed to start emailing artists for music permission.
